The Auberge de Cendrillon: lunch with the Disney Princesses at Disneyland Paris<\/h2>\n

Just like at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando with Cinderella\u2019s Royal Table, the Disneyland Park gives you the opportunity to have lunch and meet the princesses.<\/strong> A really nice way to meet them without queuing for ages at Princess Pavilion (and even then you only get to meet one). A unique experience for families and Disney fans, at a unique price too. You have to do it once in your life.<\/p>\n

Unlike the Magic Kingdom where the restaurant is on the first floor of the castle, the Auberge de Cendrillon is at the entrance to Fantasyland<\/strong>, between the castle and the carrousel, not far from the Chaumi\u00e8re des Sept Nains boutique where you can find all the right dresses and accessories. After waiting a few minutes on one of the comfortable chairs in the entrance, you are led to your table in one of the dining rooms (the main room or one of the others (which may be cosier as they are smaller).<\/p>\n

There isn\u2019t a huge choice on the menu, but there\u2019s all you need for the kids, and while the names of the dishes are sometimes a big pompous, the dishes themselves are quite ordinary, nice but nothing extraordinary. We\u2019ve had better at Disneyand Paris. For the price we paid, we could have expected fresher bread and for the dessert slipper not to be cracked. But as you\u2019ve guessed, you come here for the atmosphere, the d\u00e9cor, and the princesses and characters, the food is almost an accesory<\/strong>. By they way they give you butter from d\u2019Isigny, the Normandy town from which the Disney family originated (see how the name has been transformed).<\/p>\n

We met: Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Suzy and Perla (no Aurore, Ariel or any of the more recent princesses like Rapunzel, Elsa \u2013 maybe one day in the new Walt Disney Studios<\/a> \u2013, Merida or Moana. Luckily we\u2019ll get to see them at the Festival of Pirates and Princesses).<\/p>\n

The Festival of Pirates and Princesses: Choose your side<\/h2>\n

It should have been a special evening a few years ago, but it was cancelled at the last minute. The Pirates and Princesses are back in style for 2018 to start the season and replace the Spring festivities. It makes a lot of sense as the new strategy is to put the characters in the forefront and to encourage synergies. Visitors are probably more likely to come to see princesses than for the abstract celebration of a season (although we quite like this idea too, and Tokyo Disneyland has a very successful Easter celebration: Hippity Hoppity Springtime!).<\/p>\n

The celebration begins with the Princess Promenade, a dance with Princesses Sofia and Elena of Avalor, the heroines of Disney Channel and Disney Junior.<\/strong> Elena is the studio\u2019s first princess with Hispanic origins, and there are a lot of Spaniards at Disneyland Paris. Their choreography is simple but effective. It\u2019s nice to start off with, and we liked the theme tune \u201cElena of Avalor\u201d.<\/p>\n

But what we were really waiting for was \u201cDisney Festival of Pirates and Princesses: Choose your side\u201d.<\/strong> The idea is to send off two floats with dancers, one with the princesses and the other with the pirates (from Town Square or It\u2019s a small World). Beware, they alternate the direction they take, so it\u2019s difficult to choose a side! They take a first break half-way along (Main Street USA or The Castle stage) then meet for a dance off in Central Plaza. The idea is that you be recruited by one team or another for this finale (but it\u2019s difficult to follow your team with the crowds and the access closed off by Cast Members). The show does its job and adds a great atmosphere to the park in addition to the parades and the night show. There are some great surprises like a really catchy theme tune \u201cMake Your Choice\u201d, the Magic On Parade float got a makeover for the princesses, Mickey and Minnie\u2019s costumes and the omnipresence of Rapunzel, Moana and especially Merida who was the most beautiful on that day<\/strong>. You\u2019ll also be surprised to see that each princess does the choreography differently! The Pirates weren\u2019t nearly as good, too flashy, even on Disney Junior they\u2019re not like that\u2026 The pirate float from the Once Upon a Dream Parade has been ruined. And, when they\u2019re on Main Street USA for their first break, they don\u2019t really fill up the available space, it\u2019s a pity. To see the show properly you\u2019d need to see it 4 times, which is just as well as it\u2019s on 4 times a day.<\/strong> Depending on where you are you\u2019ll either love it or hate it, we saw the show 3 times and we give it the thumbs up! ? And, you get to see the princesses in a different light to the usual waltzes! Princesses Power!<\/p>\n

By way of conclusion, a lovely opportunity for a family trip to Disneyland Paris. The spring decorations haven\u2019t been removed which is great news.<\/p>\n

Pending the new attractions announced by 2024<\/a>, Disneyland Paris is pumping up the festivities and that\u2019s great.<\/strong> We\u2019re looking forward to the Marvel Summer of Super Heroes and all hope that the Pirates and Princesses will be back again next year. You can see them from March 31st to May 31st 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n
