Are you in a hurry! Just for you, a quick overview of this feature in the Revo-Rama minute! ?

Christmas 2017 at the Disneyland Park: from Mickey’s Christmas Big Band to the presentation of Star Tours 2

While we were a bit frustrated with Hallowe’en, we were expecting great things from Christmas at Disneyland Paris. This year, the Christmas season saw several remarkable new features. It’s not always the case so let’s make the most of it!

In the Disneyland Park, where the decorations and musical atmosphere have been around since the park opened, evolving over the years, it’s all pretty much in line with the theme of the 25th anniversary.

The parade is still there with a catchy new tune (“Christmas is here!”) and the famous toy factory float which we didn’t see last year (it wasn’t ready). It’s joined by the new “Stars on Parade” which will parade later. This time they didn’t rob Peter to pay Paul, which is excellent news.

As to shows, Stitch is very traditional at the Royal Castle Stage with “ Merry Stitchmass”, the real newcomer is at Vidéopolis with “Mickey’s Christmas Big Band”: music-hall takes over in the best possible way with an orchestra, singers, dancers and Disney characters. The show is dynamic with a few surprises, don’t miss it! We chose to eat at the Café Hypérion to avoid the queues, it was the right choice. Unfortunately some unruly guests passed the security and blocked our view so that we had to stand (blocking the view of the people behind us). I hope that Disney found a solution for the following days (we were there on the first day).

As well as the traditional “Mickey’s Magical Christmas Lights” on the tree, the unmissable (but a bit tiresome) “Frozen sing-along”, don’t forget to see “Disney Illuminations” and to pass by Star Tours who have a new scene related to episode VIII! It’s great to see the attraction evolving and introducing new characters. Good job!

Christmas 2017 at the Walt Disney Studios park: Finally! Video mapping show on the Tower of Terror.

Apart from a few forlorn decorations, the Walt Disney Studios park has always been pretty lacking in Christmas features, confirming its status in relation to the older park. However, there’s a real sign of change, after “The Season of the Force”, and before the “Marvel Summer of Super Heroes”, Christmas has really arrived!

They’ve copied the Star Wars model, which will surely be used again for Marvel, where they installed a remarkable stage in front of the Tower of Terror to present a little show, and a bigger and more impressive show in the evening. This is what they’ve done for “Sing me a Merry Christmas” (Jérémy Charvet, seen in the musical comedy Timéo – with our friend Sébastien Lavalette -, as Master of Ceremonies), then “Goofy’s Incredible Christmas”.

The show is very nice; some of the scenes are really great.  Some are a little bit harder to see, using the stage, the sides and the Tower at the same time is good idea but the girls agreed that they didn’t know which way to look.  Now that mapping shows are becoming fairly common, Disney needs to innovate to stay ahead of the competition. And they’re coming back to what they do best, with a night-time parade? (we still miss Fantillusion).

A promising start for Christmas at the Walt Disney Studios, which just needs to keep developing over the years, because we’d be frustrated if it didn’t. This park needs it, as well as a general relooking and some new attractions!

Christmas 2017 at Disneyland Paris : a  great edition !

As for the shops, there’s always lots of merchandise at this period. In particular we discovered limited edition cuddly toys, we really loved Eeyore who is magnificent.

Pixar’s Coco is here too, after Hallowe’en and Día de los Muertos, the toys are now available. Hector is calling out to us!

It would be a pity not to get the most from the evening darkness, when the Christmas lights are at their best.

But you should also go and see the entrance to Discoveryland, I love what they’ve done there.

It’s a pity that the lighting of the Christmas tree and Goofy’s show are almost exactly at the same time, it’s impossible to see both: unless you come back another time (thank goodness for annual passports) or stay for at least two evenings. Maybe they’ve done this on purpose.

Let’s hope for some interesting new features in 2018 for The Season of the Force, the new Festival of Pirates and Princesses, Marvel Summer of Super Heroes, Hallowe’en and… Christmas. In an upcoming episode of Revo-Rama!
